Here at the Intimacy, Sexuality & Gender Center of Monterey, the General Public and Professional Communities will discover information about Psychotherapy, Sex Therapy, Gender Therapy, Sexual Abuse Therapy and Sacred Sexuality, Professional Supervision, Groups, Workshops and Retreats in Monterey, California.

In addition to General Sex Therapy, ISGC offers unique and specialized services to the LGBT, KINK and other sexual and gender minorities.

ISGC is most famous for its innovative work with Male Survivors of Sexual Abuse. We are the home of the first and longest running Male Survivor Support Group on the Central Coast.

ISGC is unique, offering the first and only Professionally led Transgender Support Group that meets the WPATH Standards of Care.

We have designed a myriad of treatments and groups to meet the specific needs of every patient. We are innovative in our response by offering groups and workshops that reflect the needs of the community.

ISGC is very proud to now offer Caregivers a home. We have designed groups and workshops for their specific needs.

Stephen L. Braveman, LMFT, DST, Founder and Director, has been a leader in his field for over thirty-two years. Now, he and his partner, Wanda M. Braveman, Office Manager and Patient Advocate, have reinvented the Center, offering more groups and services to meet the needs of the community!

A Certified Diplomate of Sex Therapy, Gender and Sexual Abuse Specialist, and Tantra Educator, Stephen’s work speaks for itself. Stephen’s book, “CPR for Your Sex Life: How to Breathe Life into a Dead, Dying or Dull Sex Life” continues to teach, fascinate and enthrall readers!

Wanda, Patient Advocate and Author, offers a fresh new approach to the ISGC experience with her memoir, “White Knight, Living with Alzheimer’s Moment by Moment” and her warm counseling style!

Together, they form a team that is responsive to the community as they offer a comprehensive, new approach to your therapy needs.

Founder & Director

A Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, AASECT Certified Diplomate and Supervisor of Sex Therapy, Gender and Sexual Abuse Specialist, Sacred Sexuality/Tantra Educator and an LGBT and KINK Specialist, Stephen’s work speaks for itself.

Stephen’s book, “CPR for Your Sex Life, How to Breathe Life into a Dead, Dying or Dull Sex Life,” co-authored by Mildred Brown, PHD, continues to fascinate and enthrall readers everywhere. Stephen has also appeared in numerous national publications, television shows and in documentaries.

When asked what he is most proud of, Stephen would quickly say his ground breaking documentary, “Boyhood Shadows: I Swore I’d Never Tell” This one film, conceptualized and spearheaded by Stephen and the men in his group, was developed while he was working at the Monterey County Rape Crisis Center, has helped thousands of sexual abuse survivors come to grips with the emotionally crippling effects of abuse they suffered at the hands of others.

Stephen provides individual, couples and family sex therapy and psychotherapy.

He leads our Especially for Men Adult Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse Group,

Living with a Survivor Retreat, Female Sexuality Group, Male Sexuality Group and Sexual Compulsivity Group.

Sacred Sexuality/Tantra weekly group and weekend workshops for those seeking closer connection with themselves and their beloved are unique and designed for specific populations. Abuse survivors, LGBT, Disabled and Interfaith all enjoy a Sacred Sexuality/Tantra workshop designed for their individual needs. The first of its kind in the Monterey Bay Area.

Monterey Transitional Support Group, for the Transgendered Community is the first and only co-ed group that meets WPATH requirements on the central coast and has enjoyed unparalleled success since 1992.

KINK Couples Therapy Group if you are interested in exploring KINK play, this group is tailored just for you. Let us help you find your way through this maze of feelings!

Office Manager, Patient Advocate and Author

Wanda offers a fresh new approach to ISGC with her memoir, “White Knight: Living with Alzheimer’s Moment by Moment”, and her warm counseling style. She makes caregiving a personal experience and enjoys sharing her life-gained wisdom and experience with others.

In addition to the day to day management of our center as an office manager, Wanda is the founder and leader of our cutting edge group, White Knight Caregivers, based upon her book. She designed this group to enable people to become their own “White Knight” through learning and practicing self-care methods, as well as a positive, stay-in-the-moment philosophy and to apply these principles to their work with loved ones who are in need of their care. “You have to take care of yourself first!”

Wanda leads Womanhood 101, an exciting and informational Trans/Cis-Gender group. Founded on the belief that women in a group have their own synergy and the self-therapy that happens in this group is fun, informative and a necessary tool for all women.

She also leads, Female Sexuality Group or Workshop, Expanding Awareness and Connection to an Authentic and Healthy Sexual Self.

Wanda, also co-leads our Monterey Transitional Support Group for the Transgender Community, and our Sacred Sexuality/Tantra workshops for those seeking closer connection with themselves and their beloved.

As a Patient advocate, Wanda is available by appointment only for: Outreach, Home Visits, Wardrobe Attire Accusations, Consultations, Appointment Accompaniment and interpretation, Community Feminization Training, Feminization Life Skills Coach and Essential Oils Education as they pertain to the Chakras.
